This 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle brings Big-Block muscle and classic SS styling together in a well-executed TRIBUTE. Believed to have started life as a Malibu based on the VIN, it now wears SS badging, White stripes, a vinyl top and cowl-induction hood, while a 454ci Big-Block provides the power. The combination is backed by Automatic transmission, power steering, front disc brakes, working air conditioning and 18-inch chrome wheels. Maintenance & Vehicle History
This Chevelle is represented as an SS 454 Clone and is believed to have started life as a Malibu based on the VIN. Recent and existing equipment includes a new battery, proper radiator ducting, power front disc brakes, power steering, air conditioning and dual exhaust. The cowl-induction system is currently being repaired; the vacuum line is disconnected, with the seller expecting the system to be operational shortly. The original General Motors air-conditioning system blows cold. The car starts easily, idles smoothly and drives straight with no steering-wheel shimmy. The brakes operate straight with a high pedal, and the speedometer, gauges, wipers and turn signals are reported to work. The odometer shows 87,530 miles. On the road, the 454 gives this Chevelle the unmistakable feel of a Big Block muscle car, with strong low-end torque and a noticeable push when the throttle is opened. This Chevelle is comfortable, tight and easy to drive, with the Automatic transmission making it a straightforward cruiser. It comes with a clean California title and is exempt from California smog certification.

❤️ From the Seller
“Gorgeous 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS clone. This is a beautifully done car. Started life, I believe, as a Malibu if you decode the VIN number. And it's been really very well updated with a Chevrolet Big Block 454 engine, beautiful white stripes, paint's very good, not perfect, but very good. Has air conditioning which actually works and has 18-inch wheels, front disc brakes. Really nice paint. Has the vinyl top which is the correct look and has the cowl induction system which we're in the process of fixing that. The vacuum line is off, but we're expecting to have that fixed in the next few days. So, really nicely detailed engine compartment, the original General Motors air conditioning, brake booster, brand new battery, proper radiator with a proper ducting. You know, I can't say enough how important it is to have this ducting here. Makes the radiator work properly. Big block motor looks like it was built to be in there. Cowl induction. The way that works is when you put your foot on the gas, the vacuum in the engine compartment causes that ducting there to open up. That was a big deal back in the day. That was a big highly sought after option. So you can see this the paint's very good. The body is nice and straight inside the black vinyl has the original option listing here on the glove box with all the options it was originally outfitted with. Seats are all looks like they've all been redone. Vinyl top is vinyl, excuse me. Headliner is very good. Has new door sills. Has a SS badging, dual exhaust, license good till next May. Interior is in great shape. No rust. The wheels really set it off really, really nice. The paint's real good. It's not perfect. Couple blemishes, but overall really good. Has the SS454 badging. Really nice car. So, let's go for a quick drive and see what it'll do. Okay, so the starting sequence, like any 1970s GM, you just twist it and it fires up. This car starts really easy. The blow air actually blows cold. Unbelievable. So nice on a triple black car to have cold air conditioning. So, it has a speedometer, gas gauge, clock, dummy lights, wipers. So, it's a it's a three-speed. Probably a turbo 400 would be usually what these cars were equipped with when they had a big block engine like this has. So, these are really easy cars to drive. They're really enjoyable and they're pretty damn reliable. Car runs out great. Goes down the road really nice and straight. No shimmy at all on the wheel. Can't get over how nice it is to have nice blowing cold air conditioning. So, speedometer works. Appears all the gauges work. Rides really nicely. Really tight. This is a car that is turnkey. It doesn't need anything. The cowl ducting. We're going to get that working. Besides that, everything works. Comfortable car. idle's nice and smooth. So, it's a 72, so there's no smog certification required. And this is on a clean California title, has good power. Nice power. Nice pickup. It has that big block feel of lots of torque. It just kind of the push in the seat of your pants. You just feel the torque push the car. Very comfortable car. So, the brake pedal's nice and high. It breaks really nicely, nice and straight. Turn signals work. So, let's review. 1972 Chevel SS 454. It's a clone clean California title.454 CID, SS Chevelle clone with cowl induction!

🧠 Did you know?
The 1972 Chevelle SS 454 was the last year of the second-generation body and the last Chevelle factory-offered with a 454 Super Sport engine. Its LS5 454 made 270 hp and 390 lb-ft under SAE net ratings, used a Quadrajet and 8.5:1 compression, and required the Z15 SS package on a sport coupe or convertible (or El Camino). Chevrolet built 5,333 SS 454s out of 24,946 total SS cars; convertibles are especially scarce. A “W” in the fifth VIN character identifies the 454, which was not available without SS equipment. Documented examples, especially convertibles, command strong collector prices.
