Vehicle History

This 1983 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS combines classic G-body styling with an LS-powered drivetrain and the convenience of factory air conditioning. The 4.8L LS V8 is paired with a 4L60 Automatic overdrive transmission, while power steering and power brakes make this Monte Carlo an easy car to drive. Finished in Blue with a factory-style Blue and White interior, it presents as a driver-quality car rather than a perfect restoration, with its original interior still in place and the exterior showing some minor imperfections from its life on the road.

Maintenance & Vehicle History
This cool Monte Carlo is a driver-quality car that runs and drives very well. The 4.8L LS installation is described as nicely done, with a cold-air intake, K&N filter and upgraded alternator. The factory air conditioning remains in place and has been converted to R134a; it blows cold. Power steering and power brakes are functional, and the car is reported to drive well at highway speeds. The brakes stop the car properly, the power windows and locks work, and the horn, dash lights, wipers and radio are functional. The steering wheel sits slightly off-center while the car otherwise drives well. The seller notes that the speedometer may read approximately five mph fast. The exterior has been repainted and has some imperfections, including several small door and PDR dings, a scratch, hood and fender touch-ups and several hail dings in the hood. The interior remains largely original and is described as being in nice condition for its age, although the headliner is sagging and the dashboard has a crack. A new headliner kit has been ordered and is planned for installation. The door lock requires attention, as the seller was unable to lock it with the available key and recommends having a locksmith address it. This Monte Carlo has 67,395 miles shown and has been driven approximately 300–400 miles by the seller since acquiring it. Located in Clarence, Iowa.

“1983 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Super Sport. Now, this Super Sport has an LS. It's a 4.8 L engine under the hood. 4L60 automatic overdrive transmission. Power steering, power brakes. It does still have the factory air conditioning on it. The air conditioning blows ice cold. Pretty damn nice looking car. Um, I drove the car. I've probably put, I don't know, 3 400 miles on it. It runs very, very well down the road. Um, it has been repainted. Is the paint perfect? No, it's not perfect. It's very nice. It's a driver quality car. Um, it's got a couple small door dings in it. One right there. It's got some PDR dings, a couple of them that you could probably take out. It's got a scratch right here. This was touched up on the hood right here. A small one here on the fender. The hood has a some I just noticed the hood has some hail dings in it. I don't even know how I didn't remember that car having any hail damage, but it hasn't been sitting outside to get any either. So maybe it came like that. But blue and white interior, all factory stock interior. Um tilt wheel, cruise control. Say for the interior being all original, it's pretty pretty damn nice. The headliner is a little saggy right here. I did order a new headliner kit for it, so we will put that new headliner in it. But it is right now it is a little saggy. So, that's just what happens these cars, you know, they the glue lets loose and then the headliner starts sagging a little bit. Looks great underneath the hood. I'll pop the hood here in a second for you. Check out all the video, all the pictures in the video I'll be posting here. Got a Sony deck in it. Wooden steering wheel. Horn works. Dash lights work. Wipers work. Radio works. Air conditioning works. I did have the uh windows all tinted in the car. They turned out great. They look beautiful. And don't don't discard this 4.8 an 8 L engine under the hood of this car because these 48s are hell of a good engine and it's a 4L60 automatic overdrive It has power steering brakes and the air. The dash has a crack in it right here. I just try to be honest with you people and you know everyone I guess people everyone just that's what we do here. I show you what the cars are. You know is the car is this car perfect? No. But it's very very nice driver. They done a nice job putting the engine in it too. Cold air intake can end filter. Nice alternator. Got the H62 heads on it. Air conditioning converted to 134. You know, a lot of times they built these cars and nobody even puts the air back on them. So, I mean, it's a pretty cool deal that they put the air back on it. So, you can be nice and cool when you're driving down the road. She goes right down the road. 75 70 75 mph. Probably going a little bit faster. And I think that speedometer may be about five off. The steering wheel try car drives great. Steering wheel's off center. Just like one little click. My buddy drove this car the other day. I said, "How's it running?" He goes, "It drives great. Steering wheels off just little just one little click. Air blows cold. Brakes work good. Car stops good. The power windows work. The power locks work. I can tell you something that does not work though is I wouldn't I wouldn't lock it unless you take it to a lock cuz we have to have a key made for it or have a key that lock because I was going to lock it the other day when I was down in the Quad Cities and I tried using that key and I couldn't get it to lock. So, I don't have a locksmith around here. Otherwise, I'd do it. I just I don't really want to change the locks on it too bad. So, anyway, that's a pretty easy deal for somebody.”

The 1983 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS marked the return of the legendary Super Sport name to the Monte Carlo after more than a decade. Introduced late in the 1983 model year, the Z65 SS package brought a high-output 305-cubic-inch V8 rated at 175 horsepower, a sport-tuned suspension, specific front-end styling, rear spoiler, 15x7-inch Rally wheels, and Goodyear GT white-letter tires. The engine used a Camaro-derived aluminum intake and a Corvette-derived camshaft, giving the Monte Carlo considerably more performance than the standard model. The SS came with a three-speed automatic transmission and 3.42:1 rear axle, with Positraction available. Only 4,714 Monte Carlo SS cars were produced for 1983, making this first-year revival substantially rarer than the SS models that followed.
