The 1979 Lincoln Mark V was the final and most successful year of the fifth-generation Continental Mark series, combining the era’s oversized personal-luxury styling with a long list of standard luxury features. Built on a 120.4-inch wheelbase, the Mark V measured more than 19 feet long and was offered with a standard 400-cubic-inch V8, while a 460 V8 was available early in the model year. The Mark V was known for its sharply creased body, formal roofline, opera windows, concealed headlights, and distinctive Continental spare-tire decklid. 1979 was also the final year for the full-size Mark V, as Lincoln downsized the Continental Mark series for 1980.
