Maintenance & Vehicle History
The Beetle has received a number of recent improvements, including a new Black interior, carpeting, door panels and headliner. The steering wheel, horn button and trim ring have also been replaced, along with both front and rear bumpers. A fresh tune-up was performed with an oil change, new spark plugs, wires and belt. The car was previously a Florida vehicle. The pearly White paint shows well with good gloss and depth, while the undercarriage is clean, straight and solid with a flat-black finish. The chrome, stainless, emblems, trim, bumpers and grille are also said to present nicely. On the road, the Beetle is reported to drive straight with no surprises and to ride, drive and handle as expected from a 1960s Beetle. The Four-Speed Manual transmission shifts through the gears properly, and the lights, turn signals, brakes and gauges are all reported to function correctly. The car is located in Wind Gap, Pennsylvania.

🧠 Did you know?
The 1968 Volkswagen Beetle was part of the Type 1’s long-running development and, in 1500 form, used a rear-mounted, air-cooled 1,493cc four-cylinder boxer engine producing 44 PS (about 43.4 hp) at 4,000 rpm. The engine drove the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission, while the 1500 received front disc brakes and a semi-independent rear suspension. For 1968, Volkswagen made several practical updates standard, including hazard warning lights, a heated rear window, reversing lights and a remotely operated fuel-filler flap. The Beetle had already surpassed 10 million units produced worldwide in 1967, underscoring how established the Type 1 had become by the time this 1968 model was built.
