Maintenance & Vehicle History
The drivetrain has been substantially modernized with a 2005-era 5.3L Vortec fuel-injected V8 and Four-Speed automatic transmission with Overdrive. The engine is reported to run great, while an aluminum radiator and electric cooling fan provide updated cooling. Dual exhaust completes the powertrain installation. The chassis has also been upgraded with power rack-and-pinion steering and four-wheel power disc brakes, bringing modern steering and braking technology to the 1956 Oldsmobile. Aluminum wheels complete the updated rolling package. Inside and out, the Blue and White color combination retains the visual character expected from a 1950s Oldsmobile 88 Holiday Sedan. The result is a car that preserves the classic proportions and styling while replacing much of the original-era mechanical equipment with components better suited to modern roads. This is a straightforward RestoMod for someone who likes the look of a 1956 Oldsmobile but wants to actually drive it. The fuel-injected V8, overdrive transmission, modern steering and four-wheel power discs fundamentally change the driving experience without changing the identity of the car. This RestoMod is being offered for sale by Owner in San Miguel, California.

❤️ From the Seller
“This 1956 Oldsmobile 88 Holiday Sedan combines unmistakable 1950s Oldsmobile styling with a modern fuel-injected drivetrain and major upgrades designed to make it a much more enjoyable classic to drive. Under the hood is a 2005 5.3L Vortec fuel-injected V8, providing modern reliability, easy starting, and strong performance. It's backed by a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive, making this Oldsmobile equally comfortable around town or cruising down the highway. The Oldsmobile 88 Holiday has all the great styling that makes mid-'50s American cars so distinctive, but underneath is a much more modern mechanical package. Rather than dealing with a carbureted drivetrain, non-overdrive transmission, and vintage braking system, this Olds gives you electronic fuel injection, overdrive, power rack-and- pinion steering, and power disc brakes at all four corners. A very cool 1956 Oldsmobile restomod with classic '50s styling and the right modern upgrades for someone who actually wants to get out and drive it. Fuel-injected V8 power, overdrive, modern steering and four-wheel disc brakes make this Oldsmobile a great combination of vintage looks and modern drivability. 🧠 Did you know?
The 1956 Oldsmobile 88 Holiday Sedan was a pillarless four-door hardtop on GM’s B-body, sharing a 122-inch wheelbase and 203.3-inch overall length with other 88 and Super 88 models. Oldsmobile used “Holiday” for its hardtops; the four-door Holiday had arrived in 1955 as one of the industry’s first hardtop sedans. The base 88 used a two-barrel 324-cubic-inch Rocket V8 rated at 230 horsepower; the Super 88’s four-barrel version made 240 horsepower. A new four-speed Jetaway Hydra-Matic was the featured automatic. Oldsmobile built 52,239 Eighty-Eight Holiday Sedans and 61,192 Super 88 Holiday Sedans, making the Super 88 version that series’ best-selling body style. 1956 was the last year of this 1954–56 generation.
