Finished in Brown with a Tan cloth interior, this ResstoMod also features four-wheel braking, staggered American Racing wheels, custom instrumentation and a number of performance and drivability upgrades. The trunk area and engine compartment are finished as part of the custom build. This Fastback rides on staggered American Racing wheels with 18-inch wheels up front and 20-inch wheels in the rear, along with newer tires. ❤️ From the Seller
“Remove the dump caps when you want to hear the 455 with considerably more attitude, or keep them installed for normal cruising. Backing the 455 is a built Turbo 400 automatic transmission equipped with a performance stall converter. The transmission is operated through a floor-mounted shifter, giving the interior a sportier feel while providing the durability expected from GM's legendary TH400. Drivetrain highlights include: Built Turbo 400 Automatic Transmission, Performance Stall Converter, Floor Shifter, Firebird Rear End, Firebird Front Clip. It's a proven combination well suited to the torque of the Pontiac 455. One of the most significant upgrades is the installation of a Firebird front clip, replacing much of the original 1948-era front suspension architecture with a more modern setup. Combined with the Firebird rear end, the conversion gives this Pontiac a much more capable foundation for modern cruising. These modifications make this Silver Streak far more comfortable and confidence-inspiring to drive than a stock 1948 Pontiac. Inside, the Pontiac has been updated for both comfort and functionality. The original-style seating arrangement has given way to bucket seats, including a power- adjustable driver's seat. The updated instrumentation allows the driver to keep an eye on the important functions of the car while complementing its street-rod character. The Pontiac sits on a great-looking staggered wheel and tire combination that gives the long fastback body an aggressive stance. 18-Inch American Racing Wheels - Front, 20-Inch American Racing Wheels - Rear, Newer Tires. The larger rear wheels emphasize the flowing fastback profile while giving the car a muscular, planted appearance. Only 8,037.2 miles have been driven since the build, enough to demonstrate that this isn't simply a showpiece that has spent its life sitting in a garage. This Pontiac was built to be driven and enjoyed. With the torque of the 455, strength of the built Turbo 400, Firebird-based chassis upgrades, power steering, power brakes, and comfortable bucket-seat interior, it offers a completely different driving experience from a stock 1948 automobile.”

🧠 Did you know?
The 1948 Pontiac Silver Streak Fastback was part of Pontiac’s postwar lineup and represented the final year of the brand’s prewar-derived styling before a major redesign arrived for 1949. The fastback body, often identified as the Streamliner Sedan, featured Pontiac’s distinctive Silver Streak chrome strips running across the hood and into the grille area. Power came from Pontiac’s 239-cubic-inch flathead straight-six or the larger 248-cubic-inch straight-eight, depending on configuration. The 1948 models retained Pontiac’s traditional separate-frame construction and rear-wheel drive, while the fastback profile gave the car a more streamlined appearance than the conventional notchback sedans.
