🧠 Did you know?
The 1940 Buick Eight Business Coupe was a purpose-built two-passenger coupe designed with the needs of traveling salesmen and business users in mind, combining Buick’s upscale engineering with a compact passenger compartment and useful rear cargo space. A lesser-known fact is that the Business Coupe eliminated the rear seat, providing additional room behind the front seats for samples, equipment, or luggage. Buick offered several versions of its Straight-Eight engine in 1940, with the Business Coupe available with Buick’s smooth overhead-valve eight-cylinder power and a three-speed manual transmission. The 1940 Buick also featured a significant styling evolution, with streamlined fenders, a broad waterfall-style grille, and a lower, more integrated body design than earlier models. With its uncommon body style, Art Deco-era design, and Buick straight-eight engineering, the 1940 Business Coupe is a particularly interesting example of prewar American automotive design.
