🧠 Did You Know?
The 1979 Oldsmobile Hurst/Olds Calais W-30 was the last special-edition collaboration between Oldsmobile and Hurst Performance in the 1970s. Built on the Cutlass Calais platform, it featured bold black-and-gold or white-and-gold paint schemes, a distinctive Hurst Dual-Gate shifter, and a 350 cubic inch (5.7L) Rocket V8 engine producing 170 horsepower. While some sources suggest that California models may have been equipped with a smaller 305 cubic inch V8 due to emissions regulations, this remains unconfirmed. With only 2,499 units produced, the ’79 Hurst/Olds W-30 stands out for its striking styling, limited availability, and muscle car heritage—marking the end of an era for late-1970s high-performance cars.
