🧠Did you know?
The 1976 Chevrolet Nova Concours represented Chevrolet's upscale "luxury compact" entry, essentially a rebadged and enhanced version of the top-trim Nova LN (Luxury Nova) from the prior year, introduced to compete in the growing segment popularized by the Ford Granada. Marketed primarily as the standalone Chevrolet Concours (with minimal Nova badging on some elements like small emblems), it featured distinctive styling upgrades including a more elegant grille with 24 square cross-hatched openings in two rows, revised tail lamps, bright exterior moldings, an upright hood ornament, bumper guards with black impact stripes, full wheel covers, and rosewood-grain vinyl accents on the dash, steering wheel, and upper door panels, plus a fold-down center front armrest in the coupe. Available in coupe, four-door sedan, and hatchback body styles on the GM X-body platform with a 111-inch wheelbase, it offered engine choices of a 105-hp 250-cubic-inch inline-six, a 140-hp 305-cubic-inch V8, or a 165-hp 350-cubic-inch V8, paired with three-speed manual or automatic transmissions (and rare four-speed manual options on some V8s). Power brakes became standard on V8 models, reflecting the era's emissions and fuel economy regulations. Total Nova production for 1976 reached 334,728 units, with Concours variants accounting for a smaller portion (approximately 60,000 combined across coupe, hatchback, and sedan), but the model failed to significantly boost volume and was discontinued after 1977.
