Styling of the Karmann Ghia only improves with age. Wilhelm Karmann and Carrozzeria Ghia combined Italian design with German engineering and produced a work of automotive art for the ages. Volkswagen, best known for the Beetle now had a true sports car to add to their line-up.  The concept car “Chrysler d’ Elegance” by legendary designer Virgil Exner influenced the design and was given the first one imported to MI. Dealer registered and has a clean and clear title.

The design and prototype of the Karmann Ghia were very well received when the concept car debuted at the October 1953 Paris Auto Show.  Public reaction made it a hit and exceeded all expectations for sales the first year of production.  Notably different from its cousin the Beetle, it earned its higher price tag with hand-shaped and smoothed fenders, and a time-consuming construction process that was normally associated with the higher end sports cars of the day.
