Maintenance & Vehicle History
This 1972 Pontiac LeMans Sport is being offered on consignment in Nashville, Illinois. The seller previously owned the car after taking it in trade from a local Owner who had extensively gone through it and owned it for several years. That Owner later sold it to another local gentleman who recently passed away, and the car is now being sold for his family. Much of the work was reportedly completed approximately three to four years ago. The car has a very solid body and is described as running and driving excellent, with cold Vintage Air, working wipers and turn signals, and a strong-running Pontiac 400. The odometer shows 19,241 miles, but the seller notes that there is no additional digit, so the actual mileage is unknown and the car will be sold exempt. The body is solid with some minor surface rust underneath, and the paint is described as very nice but not perfect. The trunk is solid and insulated underneath, and there is no bubbling reported beneath the vinyl top. The LeMans has been built around the things that make these Pontiacs fun to drive: V8 power, a comfortable Overdrive Automatic, front disc brakes and plenty of Pontiac character. The Dark Green finish, Gold reflective stripe, Black interior and chrome wheel package give it a distinctive look, while the strong drivetrain and recent upgrades make it a well-equipped cruiser. Located in Nashville, Illinois.

“Check out this beautiful 1972 Pontiac Lemans Sport with strong running 400 V8, 4 speed overdrive automatic, cold vintage air, custom chrome wheels with new tires, custom dual exhaust, new bucket seats and B&M floor shifter. This car has a very solid body with excellent paint, chrome and interior. Real nice little 1972 Pontiac Lemon Sport that just came in on consignment. I actually owned this car before, traded it in from a local owner about 3 mi down the road from me. He had basically redone the car and had it several years, sold it to another uh gentleman here locally, and uh he passed away recently, so we're selling it for the family. Um, uh, this car runs and drives excellent. Strong running 400 engine in it. It does have the 200 R4, uh, automatic overdrive, vintage air, um, power front disc brakes, power steering, has the Lemon Sport down the side, stripe, reflective stripe. Really cool. Um, new set of chrome mags all the way around. Cooper Cobra white lettered tires, newer vinyl top. Really nice paint. Not perfect, but but very nice. Good solid car top to bottom. Upgraded seats. Uh bucket seats they put in it. Um it's a pro car seats pretty much match the back seat. Not perfect, but uh looks good. Nice dash pad. B&M ratchet shifter there. Does have a tilt wheel column in it. Really nice color combination. Front disc brakes. Body lines line up real nice on this car. It runs and drives amazing. Air blows cold. Upgraded aluminum radiator. There's your vintage air compressor. Good, strong Pontiac 400 motor. Nice uh vinyl top. Good solid trunk. It's even got it uh insulated underneath there. Little bit of surface rust, but good and solid. Looks good. Newer dual exhaust sounds really good. Think you put a newer gas tank. This was done most of this car was done probably 3, four years ago, I would guess. Fire it up here and let you hear it run. Sounds good. Really nice vinyl top. Don't see any bubbling or anything underneath the top. Very good. Factory tack showing 19,241 miles. Um, don't have the extra digit so we don't know if it's over or not. Of course, it will be sold exempt. Some nice aftermarket gauges there. And there's your vintage air controller. Upgraded stereo system for the aux there. Air blows nice and cold. Wipers work. Turn signals. They're working. It's a nice system. Got some panels, kick panels, uh speakers down here. All sounds great. Really nice strong new bumpers and all they put on the car. The numbers in place where it needs to be. New alternator. Looks like nice car. You're a Pontiac lover. Here it is.”

The 1972 Pontiac LeMans Sport was the sportier mid-size A-body trim above the base LeMans and below the new Luxury LeMans. It was offered as a two-door hardtop and a convertible, with Strato bucket seats and upgraded interior trim as standard. The GTO, no longer a separate model, was an option package on LeMans and LeMans Sport coupes.Base power was a 110-hp 250-cubic-inch inline-six or a 160-hp 350 V8. Optional V8s included 400- and 455-cubic-inch engines, with the 455 H.O. rated at 300 gross hp. A three-speed manual was standard; four-speed manuals and Turbo Hydra-Matic automatics were available. Pontiac built 3,438 LeMans Sport convertibles that year—the last A-body Pontiac convertible of the era. The Endura front end, shared with the GTO, was a popular option.
